Penny Socks

The latest finished pair of socks at my house have cables. They are made with sport weight Wensleydale wool. I dyed the yarn with natural dyes last spring. Wensleydale is a long wool sheep breed. The fibers can be up to 12 inches long. It also makes a good sock yarn.

I used a new (to me) cable called coin cable. It is 5 stitches wide. The crossings involve switching the placement of the first and last of these 5 stitches. I really like the round disk shape made by this crossing.

They are toe up gusseted socks. The pattern is my own. You can find the pattern and read more about the socks here.
